A Vital Artistic Force in McLean, Virginia

Since 1955

Born in Washington, D.C., local artist Ginger Sanaie was raised in northern Virginia, and currently maintains a studio in McLean, Virginia.  Her favorite subjects are landscapes, people, and animals.  She has traveled widely and enjoys creating work that reflects her trips.

Ginger works in watermedia, which includes not only traditional watercolor but also acrylic, gouache, ink, casein, and watercolor pencils or crayons. She paints on paper, canvas, or boards, working in layers, from light to dark, and often combining two watermedia in a single painting.   Ginger has attended art classes and workshops with many well-known, contemporary artists including Don Andrews, Skip Lawrence, Gerald Brommer, Sue Archer, Mark Mehaffey, Mike Bailey, Myrna Wacknov, Frank Eber, and others.

Her work can be found in private collections throughout the United States.  She has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows, and is a juried member of the Washington Watercolor Society, the Potomac Valley Watercolorists, and the Gallery Underground.  She is also an active member of the Vienna Arts Society, the McLean Art Society, the Portrait Society of America, and the Arlington Artists Alliance.  Her most recent awards were Second Place at the Vienna Spring Show (April 2016) and Honorable Mention at the McLean Art Society’s River Farm Exhibit (Jan 2017).
